Achieve high impact.

Roller banners are a cost-effective and powerful way to promote your business or service.

Compact yet impactful, these banners are ideal for trade shows, networking events, or even enhancing your brand presence at your workplace. With our roller banner design and print service, you can create a custom banner that puts your brand front and centre, making it easy to connect with potential customers. Consider our desktop roller banners for smaller spaces – perfect for showcasing your message on a smaller scale.

There are so many choices when it comes to buying a roller banner that it can be confusing to know if you're getting a good deal. Please have a look at some of our tips to help you make an informed choice next time you are buying a new one.

Does it matter what material the banner is printed on?

  • If you want your banner to stand up to regular use look for a 400gsm anti-curl, anti-scuff, anti-glare SoFlat material.

What size should my banner be?

  • Ideally, a width of at least 800mm although 850mm is better and a height of 2 meters will give good impact.

Anything else I should expect?

  • Yes, the graphic panel is just one of the components, you should also check to see that your roller banner comes with a heavy-duty bungee pole and socket base, a large internal graphic housing, a snap clip to the top rail and a good quality carry bag.

Is a warranty included?

  • Yes. Our roller banners come with a 1 year warranty which includes a 30-day full warranty and a 'return-to-base' warranty thereafter.

What about the design and artwork?

  • We offer a full design and artwork service giving you peace of mind that your banner will look professional.

If you want to supply the artwork yourself then there are a few things to bear in mind.

  • Make sure your images are large enough – at least 300 pixels per inch and saved in a CMYK colour space.

  • Allow a 3mm bleed around all edges and leave a 'quiet area' of 150mm at the bottom of the roller banner as there is always some space that isn't visible when the banner is extended.

Are you short on space?

Desktop roller banners are a space-saving option.

Compact desktop roller banners are such a useful tool. Taking up little room but providing a substantial impact perfect for advertising on shop counters.

Printed on one side in full colour, with a high-quality finish, A3 and A4 desktop roller banners couldn’t be easier to pop up, and they’re water resistant so easy to wipe clean too! They’re compact and light in weight and come with a travel bag for stress-free transporting.

I have used Darren for various design and print jobs and he has always hit the spot. Great service and unflappable even when tight deadlines are added. I would not hesitate in recommending DL Design.

The roller banner market is highly competitive, with a wide range of pricing and specifications available online. At first glance, it can be difficult to understand how some suppliers are able to offer such low prices while remaining viable.

In reality, the differences almost always come down to materials, build quality, and print specification. A roller banner is made up of two key components: the stand mechanism and the printed graphic, and both vary significantly depending on budget.

Starting with the mechanism, most bases are made from aluminium, but not all systems are engineered to the same standard. Entry-level units typically use lighter materials and simpler internal spring mechanisms. These can work well for occasional use, but with repeated setup and retraction, they can become unreliable. Common issues include the graphic detaching from the spool, inconsistent retraction, or the banner dropping unexpectedly.

The support pole is another area where cost affects performance. Cheaper poles tend to be lighter and less rigid, which can lead to bending over time and reduced stability, sometimes leaving the banner leaning or requiring external support. At the top of the system, the clamp that secures the graphic can also be weaker on lower-cost units, occasionally causing the banner to snap back too quickly during assembly, which can damage the print or make handling awkward.

The second major factor is the printed graphic itself. Lower-cost banners are often produced on standard PVC. While this helps reduce price, it introduces several practical drawbacks. PVC graphics are more prone to curling at the edges and rarely remain perfectly flat after use. They can also allow light transmission through the material, which may reveal the central support pole as a shadow, particularly in bright or backlit environments, reducing overall visual impact.

Higher-quality alternatives use more advanced materials designed for stability and presentation. For example, all of our roller banners are printed on grey-backed SoFlat light stop material across the entire range. This ensures a consistently flat finish, prevents show-through from internal components, and improves overall display quality.

Print technology also plays a major role. We produce all graphics on large-format printers using original inks, which deliver sharper detail, more consistent colour, and improved longevity. Cheaper ink systems can result in faded or less defined prints and reduced UV resistance, meaning colours degrade more quickly when exposed to sunlight.

Ultimately, the differences between roller banners are not always obvious at first glance, but they become clear with use. Investing in higher-quality mechanisms, better materials, and professional print processes results in a more durable product, improved appearance, and far fewer issues over time.
